This has to be one of my favorite pictures of Cathy...We traveled from Germany to Washington, D.C. for surgery at the Breast Cancer center in Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital. Cathy had just finished her first round of chemotherapy at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, and was facing the first of several major surgeries to come. Despite all of that, she was fascinated with the history of the D.C. area, and wanted to take every opportunity to visit historic sites while we were there. To me, the picture captures the essence of her spirit for life, her fascination with history, and her love of the beautiful blooms and flowers God gives us every year to help strengthen our faith and hope...I will cherish the time we spent together there, the joy and pain she shared with me, our conversations as husband and wife, and as best friends....
